CHIEF RICHARD LAMAI PRIZE FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING

Chief Richard Lamai

The book ‘Business Strategy from Igbo Fathers’ by Charles Nnukwu Ogbaa delves into profound strategies and tactics for achieving business success, inspired by the teachings of Igbo Fathers to their children and apprentices.

Generously donated by Mr. Kalu O. Kalu, a distinguished Deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, the book exemplifies the insights of a highly respected personality in public service.

This donation aligns with the central theme of the 2023 4th Edition of the Chief Richard Lamai Prize for Public Speaking competition: “Leveraging the Igbo Traditional Business Mentoring Model to Create Successful Entrepreneurs.”

Special recognition goes to Chief Richard Lamai, the sole sponsor of the competition, who has not only funded it for the past four years but also actively contributed to shaping this year’s captivating and impactful theme. His recommendation of this edition’s theme reflects his thoughtful engagement in the planning process.

Richard Lamai serves as a testament to the idea that impactful contributions need not be confined to positions of power. The competition, generously funded by Lamai, has not only benefited students and mentees but has also inspired participants toward achieving a more substantial lifestyle, contributing to the development of responsible young adults.

To encourage more entries and recognize participants, the deadline for the 2023 Chief Richard Lamai Prize for Public Speaking was extended to December 20, 2023. Each edition of the competition is distinctive, and for the fourth edition, participation is limited to members of the Authors-in-School Creative Club and the Mentees of The Richard George Foundation, in line with our strong working relationship.

The new entries deadline has closed, and the founders are presently working with judges, while winners would be announced 31st December, 2023, consolation prizes would be given to participants.

The annual public speaking competition is organized and facilitated by the Authors-in-School Creative Club, a young adult mentoring educational unit of the Udukhotse Foundation, in collaboration with our partner, Stars and Styles Communications.
