Curriculum of Activities of the Centre

 We have given financial aid, counselled and cared for people in various areas:

 Major Programmes/Follow Up

 Activity – 2015

  • April: We trained and empowered 100 women from six (6) local government areas under Edo North on various skills acquisition like tie and dye, beading, soap making and tailoring.
  • July: The five best among them were further given a one-week intensive training in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by our partners, Haven Re-habilitation and Re-integrated Foundation. They were empowered with materials and cash to start small-scale businesses in their various communities.

 

Follow Up/Similar Programmes at various times and different years

  • Ending of 2018: A survey on how to train women in various communities was carried out. We met women who have been trained in 2015 by our team and they were further trained to acquire other skills in Okpella, Edo North and Benin City, Edo South and they were empowered.
  • February 2020: We trained another set of 50 women in Ugiekha, South-Ibie, Edo North, empowered them with materials and established small businesses for them.
  • Ending of 2021: We embarked on a follow-up to ensure they continue with their production business; some have been producing.
  • May 2022: We engaged in a community visit where we met with empowered women and young girls. We observed that they are still exploring their business ideas and earning a living through their businesses.

 

Activity – 2015:

  • We engaged in mission work, where we visited the physically challenged persons in Agenebode, located in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State. A survey was done in various areas they needed help. We discussed together how to meet the Local Government to aid them to solve their unique challenges.
  • We involved the then Local Government boss because we were told most of them have died as a result of negligence on the part of the government as they were denied adequate care. Following our efforts, some were assisted with wheelchairs, food items and employment.

 

Follow Up/Similar Programmes at various times and different years

  • On 28th November 2020, we held Day Out with Physically Challenged with the theme, ‘Make Yourself Available’ at the Bonjul Hotel, Auchi, Edo State. It was organized to show love. We further extended a caring hand to the ones in Abuja the same m
  • We reached out to these physically challenged people through various channels. This is to empower them with skill acquisition, making them independent, keep them busy and creative enough not to depend on their immediate environment and not to be seen as liabilities.

 

Activity: Previous years before the Foundation was officially Established – 2013:

  • While our charity works were being done before the Udukhotse Foundation was established, the Founder donated N2.5 million out of N5 million of its 60% proceeds of the book, ‘Olaitan Oyerinde: His Struggles for a Better Nigeria’ to charity in 2015. We continued to support charity with proceeds from the Founder’s books as an established Foundation.
  • We have a diplomatic relationship/partnership where we meet Nigerian students abroad to educate and enlighten them to return home after school.

 

  • Follow Up/Similar Programmes at various times and different years
  • December 2015: We donated free books to schools nationwide and spent 30% proceeds of the book, ‘Are the gods truly walking’ to develop the writing skills of selected students in Calabar, Cross River State.
  • June 2017: We distributed books to victims of human trafficking and shelter homes. In addition, 45% of proceeds from the book, ‘Udukh: the Surrogate Daughter’ was donated to widows and some victims of human trafficking in Abuja, Benin City and Uzairue. We further gave out 2,000 books to Nigerian students on Mentorship WEEK through our volunteers in Osun, Kaduna, Lagos, Edo States.
  • June 2020: We spent 30% proceeds of the book, Five Flying Flags’ to mentor Nigerian students in both tertiary and secondary schools, and further support the 2021 and 2022 Dr. Omokhogie Adamu Prize for Feature and Research Writing.
  • The book ‘Udukh: the Surrogate Daughter’ sponsored by the Foundation was used as a lecture note at the Nigerian Prisons, Lagos State, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Department, private schools and it is approved by the Education Resource Centre for the general public.

 

Activity – 2016

  • 2016: We assisted the Halima Factor Initiative to promote her Internally Displaced Persons Environmental project and facilitated the process to provide books and other school materials in Abuja.

  • 2016: We gave out clothing to those who needed them and we counselled those who are traumatized in various communities in Abuja.
  • 2016: We gave financial assistance to Youth Rebirth in Edo State, to facilitate the process to equip and prepare children to go back to school by providing basic school materials and giving them scholarships.
  • 2017: We assisted the Jerry Adesowe Initiative to train one challenged girl child for three terms.
  • 2018: We established a Creative Club with schools and we have funded it for four years and running, where we offer creative education to tertiary schools.
  • 2018: We built free mini-libraries in schools and furnished them.
  • 2019: We did not do much because of COVID-19. Although, we housed several youths who got stranded. They went back to school upon the lifting of the lockdown. We also carried out monthly online seminars with them to engage them during the lockdown.
  • 2021: We led students to the library to study works done by our past and living legends like Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, etc.
  • From inception, we have mentored a lot of young adults on the streets on a daily basis.

 

Activity

  • 2017: We made a financial contribution towards the rescue mission of the Youth Sensitisation Club to save one 18-months-old baby, Mohammed Buhari Yahaya in Kuje, Abuja, who underwent surgery on his two hands as a result of abuse by his stepmother, Khadijah. This happened on 19th December, 2017. NAPTIP carried out the arrest following our timely intervention.

 

Activity

  • 2018: On February 17, we organized a road walk in Lagos State with a focus on human t We believe human trafficking is a crime against humanity. It was themed: Girls Have Rights better Respect our Existence. We collaborated with an NGO, Weruntheworld Girls for the road walk.

 

Activity

  • 2018: We visited elderly persons (men and women) at various levels and across the country to encourage them to explore their old age. We further checked on them and observed that some were active till death while some are still live.

 

  • Follow Up/Similar Programmes at various times and different years
  • Consistency: We have consistently done several phone calls to elderly people and we embark on monthly physical visits. We give little support to some who are not privileged to have well-to-do children.
  • We have received several distress calls on family issues, loss of loved ones and the less privileged ones being intimidated. We acted and gave voices to many by solving most requests.

 

Activity (Scholarships)

  • 2018: On September 30, we gave six (6) years of Scholarship to two female children in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Afokpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo North, Edo State. This was facilitated by the Rector, Fr. Reginald Adogamhe.

 

Follow Up/Similar Programmes at various times and different years

  • 2021: We gave 6 years scholarship to a male pupil of The Redeemers Embassy Academy, by the name Paul Godwin (Enugu), with Code No. ADAC/JE/HOH/21/07; through the Adopt A Child Initiative by Habitation of Hope by Jesus Embassy Redeemed Christian Church of God.

 

Activity

  • 2018: Throughout, we embarked on community engagements to give out clothes to women and children through various organizations.

 

Follow Up/Similar Programmes at various times and different years

  • December 29 to 30 2021: We visited Itseoghena Orphanage Home, Hope Maternity Clinic and Omokhogie Adamu Library, all in Edo North to give out various materials like food items, wrappers, toiletries and we engaged young adults in reading session respectively. We attended the Annual Retreat by the Creative Club founded by the Foundation.
  • February 2022: We gave clothes, food items and other kitchen utensils to families in Kuje and Karu communities.
  • February 2022: We assisted widows through Lois Widow Stand where we gave out N50,000 during her 50th birthday celebrations.
  • July 2022: We supported a charity-based organization in Ondo State.
  • July 2022: The foundation started plans to support Higher National Diploma for a distressed woman, nursing school for a young female and post-graduate diploma at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for a community woman with an excellent record in her workplace. Resources were committed towards the purchase of their admission forms.

 

Recognition

We have been recognized as 2022 Influential Foundation by Wake Up Africa, Abuja.

 

Editorial Aid (2018)

The foundation offered people, both in private and public organizations in creative services through the Founder’s wealth of experience in creative writing, editing and proofreading.

In 2018, over 100 jobs were done on charity grounds by the Foundation This cuts across books, journals, magazines, newspapers, presentations, speeches, music, content creation/development, etc. We have rendered services to individuals, organizations, young businesses, entrepreneurs and authors.

The Foundation spends its resources to nurture the Creative Club. It is established to stand on its own with time.
